It’s a Family Thing
Villa Bleichröder is a listed family-owned and run boutique stay that was opened as a hotel in the 80s. In 2023, the Jaeschkes meticulously modernized it room by room and unveiled Bleichröder. Its sparkling renovation carefully preserves historic features and listed structures, whilst step by step transforming the villa into a contemporary, high-end space. Interior design is reflective of the family’s eye for detail and honoring history.
Thirteen rooms and beach-facing views mean immediate access to nature and tranquility and an easy tap into focus – making the villa ideal for escaping one’s usual pace, routine or surroundings for some Usedom air and inspiration.
GLS Campus Berlin
Long-running language school and language travel agency GLS is already a success story of the Jaeschke family. Its event spaces and studio apartments in Berlin’s Prenzlauer Berg. The school is one of Germany’s most renowned language and study trip go-tos, and the campus also includes Villa Bleichröder’s sister stay, the extraordinary Hotel Oderberger. Formerly a public baths dating back to 1898, the pool was shut in 1986 and no one swam for thirty years.
In 2016, Oderberger Berlin opened its doors after extensive renovations, and a stalwart boutique spa hotel, bistro and cocktail lounge was born. Its central conversation and focal point is the Neo-Renaissance pool, yet its seventy rooms, two apartments and five tower suites are the perfect complement and comfortable bolthole for any Berlin visit.
Female enterprise
GLS is a women-run business thriving in its second generation with 150 employees and its own star campus in Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin.
Founded in 1983 by Barbara Jaeschke, who still runs the ship along with her daughters Dr. Verena Jaeschke (center) and Dr. Reemda Jaeschke (left), the trio’s impressive GLS leadership has received many entrepreneurial industry accolades over the years.
